ALISS is seeking new committee members.

ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) is a not-for- profit unincorporated professional society. It is a completely independent group, formed in 2005.

We are looking for enthusiastic information professionals working in social science organisations to join our friendly committee. Support and training will be given in the role. It is not arduous or particularly time-consuming and is a great opportunity to gain an introduction to organising events and helping with publicity. As well as contributing to your own CPD you’ll be supporting a thriving community and there are plenty of networking opportunities.

Although most of the meetings and events take place in London, location doesn’t need to be a barrier as we use Skype for committee meetings and can reimburse travel expenses. The committee meets about 4 times a year. Meetings last about 2 hours max.  We aim to put on two half-day and one full-day events a year, plus visits.

To stand for committee either you or your organisation needs to be an ALISS member.

If you would like to join us, please email me the current secretary of the group

Heather Dawson

Under the constitution of ALISS,  elected members, comprising up to three officers: Chair, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary; and up to six ordinary members of the committee, all of whom must be members of the Group.

Members of the Group may be co-opted to the committee and shall have the same powers as if they were elected, but their tenure of service shall terminate at the next AGM.
